Journey To Wellness Signature Course Class #5 Skinny On Fats & Cholesterol

In our Journey to Wellness Signature Course, we continue with Class #5, Skinny On Fats & Cholesterol.  This is Part #1 of the two-part Cholesterol Section.  This class will help you understand the whole picture of fats and cholesterol starting with the lipid panel goals and what they mean.  We discuss the interventions necessary to manage the lipid panel.  You will learn specific changes to make to improve outcomes and decrease risks for heart disease. 

 

We teach the difference between cholesterol and fat.  Then we review in more detail the different fats we consume like unsaturated fats, saturated fats, and trans fatty acids and their effect on our bodies.  We briefly discuss omega fatty acids, especially Omega 3 FA.

 

We also provide a variety of tips for dining out and making small changes when ordering.  The goal is to decrease the harmful fats and increase the healthy fats.  Serving sizes and a bit about food labels are also included.

 

No class would be complete without the change process using journalling to create new habits.  You will walk away with increased knowledge of how to take control of cholesterol issues and decrease risk for heart disease and its long-term complications.
